I honestly feel giddy just typing the title of this article. I have been counting down the days for the amazing adventure that is now less than three weeks away. With all the craziness in the world, obsessing over and researching what to bring to the Amazon has been a wonderful distraction. Hopefully these tips will help the next crazy person headed deep into the jungle…

Vaccines-
Yellow Fever
Typhoid
Antimalarial pills

Mosquito prevention (Pretty darn important!)
spray
repellent infused jacket
repellent patches
Mosquito bracelets (especially good for the ankles)
tea tree oil (Also good for soothing bites)

Footwear
Wellington boots are essential (Check with your lodge as they may carry them)
Sandals with straps for evening dinners like these or if you are striving for a more fashionable solution like these

Wardrobe-
When it “feels like 99″ but you need to cover up because of critters and bugs this is a challenge!
-Opt for quick drying shirts and tanks (Cotton is breathable and light but takes forever to dry so avoid it)
– quick drying high socks
-A sun/rain hat combo is a great idea
light-weight cargo type pants with moisture wicking technology and/or breathable athletic ones
-athletic shorts or skort

“Eyewear”-

Emergency phone charger

Rain-(Especially important when you go during the heart of the rainy season like me!)
Ponchos
Dry packs (To soak up moisture near documents and electronics)
Dry bags for passport, phone, etc.

Other gear-travel/camping pillow, day pack, travel umbrella, Nalgene water bottle, old plastic bags to store wet and muddy items when you leave, zip locks for any snacks

Sporting a day pack

In preparing for any trip, this website is outstanding when it comes to weather predictions! http://www.weather2travel.com/

Clearly I picked a hot and ultra rainy month to go to the jungle. Bring on a messy, muddy adventure! Pretty soon I will have a smile as big as this guy ;)….
