Frequently Asked Questions

  • Our trips are designed for naturally positive women who are open-minded, curious about the world, and are true cheerleaders for other women. These journeys are intentionally drama-free and are spaces filled with encouragement, connection, and joy.

  • Our trips are different on purpose. We intentionally design itineraries that help prevent over tourism and choose off the beaten path locations that help you connect with the heart of a country, its culture, and its people on a deeper level. We especially love showcasing the beauty and uniqueness of countries that are often misunderstood or overlooked. Even with a popular destination like Greece, we explore lesser-known islands.

  • Absolutely—100%! That’s part of why we created Somewhere Sunny. In fact, most women who come on our trips don’t know anyone else. However, by the end of the first day, everyone is fast friends, and friendships continue. Women meet up in real life and the WhatsApp chat lives on way after the trip ends.

  • All our trips are deeply cultural, with behind-the-scenes experiences you simply could not book on your own or find on TripAdvisor. At the same time, we weave in elevated moments throughout. For example: We have had a private meal with botanical drinks on a 150 year old coffee plantation prepared by a chef in her aesthetic outdoor kitchen, a cooking class taught by longevity experts at their home on a 500 year old vineyard, a completely organic meal at the foothills of the mogotes in Cuba at a small sustainable farm that is in Travel & Leisure and the Michelin Guide.

  • We have an incredibly unique dual-guide system. A Somewhere Sunny Group Experiences Leader leads every trip in addition to a bilingual in-country guide. We also have local, on the ground partners that have a pulse on what is happening in a country day by day. Most of our trips have dedicated private drivers who remain with us for the entirety of each trip. Of course, travel by nature has inherent risks, even in the U.S. We take every precaution to ensure a safe, supported experience.

  • A standout feature of our Somewhere Sunny trips is that we offer is a guaranteed single room for every woman with no single supplement charge. We stay in locally owned and boutique hotels whenever possible, supporting the local community.

  • At Somewhere Sunny, it is part of our ethos to leave every place a little better than we found it. Therefore, on every trip, whether in the U.S. or abroad, we ask our travelers to help us in supporting a local cause, preferably a sustainable one. By partnering with locals, we focus on creating meaningful impact. Learn more

  • We get this question a lot and for us, midlife is more of a mindset than a number. Most of our travelers are between 35 and 65, though we have had women as young as 32 and as seasoned as their early 70s join us. What matters most is having enthusiasm, a zest for life, and an openness to new experiences. Age diversity often enriches the group.

  • We ask that all our travelers can easily walk 10,000–12,000 steps a day, often on uneven streets, and can keep up with our busy days. Each trip has its own specifics, so check the itinerary for details, but in general our days are full, lively, and best suited for women with steady energy.

  • Yes! With our new booking platform, we can break the trip price into up to 20 installments. Contact our Coordinator to set up a custom payment plan: Coordinator@besomewheresunny.com

  • It is our goal to make sure you feel prepared and confident before every trip. We ask that our travelers attend two mandatory mini orientations via Zoom (they are live but recorded). The orientations cover everything from what to bring to cultural tips, currency, and logistics. We also offer an optional pre-trip FAQ call in addition to the Zooms. All our trips have a unique WhatsApp chat and a shared PhotoCircle so the community is built in before you even arrive.

  • I love questions! You can reach out to me personally, Bree Schumacher Bree@besomewheresunny.com I am also happy to set up a one-on-one call.
